A Note on the Sixth Cycle

The 2026 hospitality cycle has been considered against a backdrop of consolidation in the luxury segment, with a growing number of historic houses absorbed into international collections. The editorial chamber has consequently weighted independence of operation and continuity of leadership with particular care this year. Six of the eight recipients remain under direct family or founding ownership.

The inaugural Wellness Sanctuary recognition marks a refinement in the programme's coverage. The chamber has long resisted the addition of a category that would risk conflation with commercial spa branding. The 2026 conferral honours a property where the discipline of wellness has been integrated into architecture, governance, and the rhythm of operation, rather than appended as a commercial amenity.
