The Procedure

Nominations and Submissions

The Council accepts nominations across all active award programmes from members of the trade, from the recognised houses themselves, and from qualified observers of the luxury and craft industries. The Secretariat reviews each submission against the published methodology before referring eligible candidates to the chamber.

The 2027 Bespoke Cycle

Submissions for the Tenth Bespoke cycle are now received. Recognition will be conferred in the autumn issue, October 2027.

The 2027 Hospitality Cycle

Open · Closes 30 April 2027

The Hospitality programme accepts nominations from independent and group-owned properties whose service and material craft are conducted to standards consonant with the Council's methodology.

The Procedure

  1. Initial Submission

A nomination is registered by completing the form below or by writing to the Secretariat at journal@theartisancouncil.org. Self-nominations are accepted on equal footing with third-party nominations.

  2. Eligibility Review

The Secretariat conducts an initial review of eligibility against the published methodology, with particular attention to the substantive criteria of the relevant programme. The Council does not levy fees of any kind upon nominees or recipients in connection with this review.

  3. Documentation Request

Where a candidacy advances beyond initial review, the Secretariat requests documentation appropriate to the programme. For bespoke houses, this typically comprises evidence of construction method, atelier provenance, and a sample of recent commissions. For hospitality candidates, the Secretariat requests comparable evidence of service standard and material craft.

  4. Reference to the Chamber

Eligible candidates are placed before the chamber for the cycle. The deliberations of the chamber are not disclosed and the Council does not provide individual feedback to candidates not selected for recognition. Candidates may be considered again in subsequent cycles.

  5. Conferral

Recognition is conferred by publication in the relevant cycle issue of the Awards and is announced concurrently in the Journal. Recipients are entitled to display the official badge of the Council in their own communications according to the badge guidance issued by the Secretariat.
